Yao Wei Biography

Notable: Born 1984; Royal Danish Ballet

Yao Wei was born in 1984 in Shanghai, China. She received her training at the Shanghai Dance School between 1993 and 2000 and continued at the Shanghai Drama College from where she graduated in 2002. She was assigned to the Corps de Ballet at the Royal Danish Theatre in 2002 and promoted to soloist in 2005. In 2008 Yao Wei was promoted to Principal Ballerina of the Royal Danish Ballet.

• The Hope Prix at the Lausanne International Ballet Competition in 2000
• 1st Prize at the National Ballet Competition of China
• The Grand Prix at the Helsinki International Ballet Competition in 2001
