Olga Lepeshinskaya Biography
Notable: 1916 – 2008; Bolshoi Ballet
Olga Lepeshinskaya was born in Kiev in 1916. She graduated from the Moscow Choreographic School in 1933 (class of Viktor Semyonov). Lepeshinskaya danced with the Bolshoi for 30 years. She danced with exceptional exhilaration and was known for her vivid, optimistic portrayals. Her vaste repertoire includes Kitri in Don Quixote, Tao Hoa in The Red Poppy, Jeanne in The Flame of Paris, Aurora in Sleeping Beauty and Masha in The Nutcracker.
After leaving the stage Lepeshinskaya began teaching classical ballet both in the USSR and abroad. Her talent and experience were welcomed in France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Sweden, China and other countries.
