Georgina Parkinson Biography
Notable: Born 1938; Royal Ballet
Georgina Parkinson was born in Brighton, England, in 1938. She studied at the Sadler’s Wells Ballet School and joined the Royal Ballet in 1957. She was promoted to principal in 1962.
She created roles in MacMillan’s Symphony 1963, Ashton’s Monotones II 1966 and Enigma Variations 1968 and Cranko’s Daphnis and Chloe in Stuttgart 1962. She danced Juliet in MacMillan’s revival of Romeo and Juliet for the Swedish Royal Ballet in Stockholm 1969.
She left the Royal Ballet in 1978, and become ballet mistress of American Ballet Theatre.
