Heidi Ryom Biography

Notable: 1955 – 2013; Royal Danish Ballet

Heidi Ryom was born in Denmark in 1955 and trained by the Ballet School of the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen. She became an apprentice in 1972, and in 1974 she was engaged as a dancer in corps de ballet by the Royal Danish Ballet, where she was appointed principal dancer in 1982 and character dancer in 1997.

She has danced a number of leading roles with the Royal Danish Ballet, including Tatiana in Onegin, Odette/Odile in Swan Lake, Hilda in A Folk Tale, Swanilda in Coppelia, Hippolyta/Titania in A Midsummernight’s Dream, Kitri in Don Quixote, the titelroles in Giselle, Romeo and Juliet and La Sylphide, Terpsichore in Apollon, the Queen in Caroline Mathilde, Teresina in Napoli, Madame in Gait� Parisienne, and further soloist roles in Allegro Brilliante, Tchaikovsky’s 2nd Pianoconcert, Etudes and Zakouski.
