Sofiane Sylve Biography
Notable: New York City Ballet, Dutch National Ballet
Sofiane Sylve was born in Nice, France, where she studied at the Académie de Dance. In 1990, she joined the ballet company of the Staatstheater in Karlsruhe, Germany, as a First Soloist, and then in 1993, she joined the Dutch National Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet. In 1994, she was promoted to Grand Sujet, and in 1998, to First Soloist. She joined New York City Ballet as a Principal Dancer in 2003.

Ashton’s Cinderella, Bournonville’s La Sylphide, Cranko’s Onegin, van Dantzig’s Romeo and Juliet and Swan Lake, Wright’s The Sleeping Beauty and Giselle, Pastor’s Kurt Weill, Balanchine’s Agon, Apollo, Western Symphony, Symphony in C and Serenade, Robbins The Concert, van Mannen’s Three pieces for Het (created on her) and Bach Pieces (created on her), Ashton’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Symphonic Variations and Scenes de Ballet, Forsythe’s Artifact and The Vertiginous thrill of Exactitude.
